Guy's Hospital
Guy's Hospital has been at the forefront of medical innovation since 1721. The Assisted Conception Unit is one of the UK's most established and respected fertility centres, treating thousands of patients annually and contributing significantly to reproductive medicine research.
The Assisted Conception Unit (ACU) at Guy's Hospital is one of the UK's largest and most experienced fertility centres, delivering over 2,000 IVF cycles annually.
Established in 1997, our Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) service was born from a simple but powerful ambition: to give families at risk of serious inherited conditions the chance to have a healthy child. Over the decades, what began as a pioneering programme has grown into the UK's largest PGT centre responsible for more than 60% of all PGT cycles performed nationally, testing for over 300 genetic disorders, and by 2018 had celebrated the birth of over 1,000 babies who may not otherwise have had the chance at life.
Embedded within King's College London, our unit sits at the intersection of cutting-edge research and compassionate patient care , consistently achieving outcomes above national benchmarks.
Licensed for Stem Cell Research, Guy's ACU is One of a select number of UK centres licensed to carry out stem cell research placing the ACU at the forefront of reproductive science.
ACU faculty actively shape fertility policy with senior clinicians involved with the HFEA board, RCOG committees, British Fertility Society (BFS) Training Committee, and the board of the International Society for IVF.
Our clinicians lead nationally and internationally in reproductive medicine, contributing to NICE guidelines, Cochrane reviews, and landmark clinical trials that shape IVF practice worldwide.
